Writing Workshops with Instructor T.J. Banks   “A Wild Beckoning: Writing About Nature” Tuesday, May 13, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., So. Conference Room Cost: $3 - Register by May 9 Yes, this workshop deals with writing about nature – learning to find just the right words to describe sunlight sifting through leaves or dancing on the water or a swan readying itself to take flight. But it’s more than that.  In A Wild Beckoning, we’re going to take nature herself as a guide, expanding the creative force within us by studying her rhythms.   “Writing Yourself Back In Time: Historical Fiction” Tuesday, June 10, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., So. Conference Room Cost: $3 - Register by June 6 There are famous people whose stories beckon to us -- periods in history that we feel inexplicably at home in.  In this workshop, we’ll see how writing historical fiction is like building a time machine: it allows us to immerse ourselves in times and places that fascinate us. Plus, it gives us a way to have a conversation with and get a handle on someone who has always inspired us.   T.J. Banks is the author of several books, including Moonlight & Grace, A Time for Shadows, Abys Among Us & Other Stories for the Feline-Inclined, and Catsong, as well as other books, anthologies and poetry. She has worked for The Associated Press and The Writer’s Digest School and taught writing workshops in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.
